How does the Spirit help us to pray?
We not knowing what to pray for as we ought, the Spirit helps our infirmities, enabling us to understand both for whom, and what, and how prayer is to be made: and by working and quickening in our hearts...those apprehensions, affections, and graces which are requisite for the right performance of that duty.

Throughout the Scriptures we are reminded that God's people are engaged in spiritual conflict with our enemy and adversary Satan. Yet, so often, we bring frustration and discouragement upon ourselves by living as if the only things that matter are those things that may be seen and felt. But Scripture corrects us and reminds us that we must live by faith and not on mere appearances. This morning, ask your Lord to give you the true and greater vision of His Kingdom and His glory. Then give Him the praise of which He is worthy.

Westminster Larger Catechism Question & Answer #2:
Q: How doth it appear that there is a God?
A: The very light of nature in man, and the works of God, declare plainly that there is a God; but His word and Spirit only do sufficiently and effectually reveal him unto men for their salvation.

"Let not any one imagine that he is prepared to withstand the assaults of the powers of darkness, if his mind is stored with his own theories or with the speculations of other men. Nothing but the truth of God clearly understood and cordially embraced will enable him to keep his feet for a moment, before these celestial powers."

Remember:
"When the Christian looks to himself, he finds only occasion for trembling or rather for despair, but having been called into the fellowship of Christ, he ought, in so far as assurance of salvation is concerned, to think of himself no otherwise than as a member of Christ, so to reckon all Christ's benefits his own. Thus, he will obtain an unwavering hope of final perseverance if he reckons himself a member of Him who is beyond all hazard of falling away." John Calvin
